TREMONTON - August 22, 2021
Fans of the country music band Lonestar didn't let Utah's much needed rainy weather dampen their fun. After a last minute change of venue from the large outdoor rodeo arena at the Box Elder County fairgrounds to the large indoor arena, the Box Elder County Fair's annual kick-off concert featuring Lonestar and The Wayne Hoskins Band still brought in a big crowd.
In addition to kicking off fair week, which starts Monday, August 23, the concert also supports Utah Honor Flight - an annual tradition for Box Elder County. Utah Honor Flight is a non-profit organization that provides WWII, Korean and Vietnam Veterans the opportunity to visit their memorials in Washington D.C., at no cost. Visit Utah Honor Flight's website www.utahhonorflight.org for more information.
Local Box Elder County veterans were also in attendance at Friday night's concert where they received a standing ovation from the audience for their gratitude and for the sacrifice they gave to their country.
According to Utah Honor Flight's Facebook page, $5,700 was donated from tip cans passed around throughout the crowd during the concert. A guitar auction also brought in $1,400 for the program.
