High school drill teams from across the state competed in the 4A championships last week and this week, and while the Hi- Steppers from Bear River didn't place at the state competition, they earned something just as good.
The Bear River Hi-Steppers were awarded the 4A Sportsmanship award, the top honor for just one high school team that exemplifies excellent sportsmanship on and off the dance floor.
The team attended the semi-finals at Utah Valley University in Orem on Thursday, Jan. 30, and received the award on Friday, Jan. 31.
The Lady Bears were also recognized for taking third place for the highest team grade point average out of all 4A drill teams.
Bear River junior Arwynn Miner was also named to the All-State drill team.
