UPDATE - "Woman identified in possible drowning"


UPDATE - Jan. 26, 2020 - Authorities have released the name of the woman who may have drowned at Crystal Hot Springs on Saturday, Jan. 25, as Christina Bailey, 51, of Logan.


After further investigation the Box Elder Sheriff's Department has not been able confirm the cause of death as drowning or another medical issue. The Utah State Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy.

The Box Elder Sheriff’s Department is investigating a possible drowning at Crystal Hot Springs on Saturday, Jan. 25, at approximately 3 p.m.

According to a statement released by the department, “She and a friend were visiting Crystal Hot Springs and swimming in the large pool. Some teenagers, also in the pool, noticed she was struggling and determined she was in trouble. They called for assistance and she was removed from the pool and CPR initiated. It is unknown exactly what caused her to have the problem in the pool.”

The reported added that the woman is a 51-years old and is from Cache Valley. Her name has not yet been released.

Surrounding agencies also responded to the incident, including Tremonton Fire and EMS and Honeyville First Responders. The woman was taken to Bear River Valley Hospital and was pronounced dead.
