BEAR RIVER HIGH – By Cari Doutre – November 5, 2021
After 20 years as head football coach at Bear River High School, Chris Wise will not return to the program for the 2022 season.
According to Wise in an interview with BRVNEWS.com, the school’s administration cited that their decision to release him from his position as Bear River High football team’s head coach was because he “no longer had the support to be successful here.”
Bear River High Principal AJ Gilmore stated that Wise’s dedication and contributions to the school’s football team over the past two decades is immeasurable.
“He has had a tremendous impact, for the good, in the lives of the boys he coached, the community and the school,” Gilmore said. “He has dedicated more time than we could ever know. We appreciate everything that he’s done.”
Wise added that he plans on staying at Bear River High in his current teaching position and that he has not taken another coaching position elsewhere. He also remarked on the 20 years he spent as the school’s head football coach.
“I wouldn’t change it for anything,” Wise said.
No information has been released on who will replace Wise as head football coach at Bear River High.
