An early morning explosion at a Brigham City business claimed the life of one man and caused significant damage to nearby structures.
The explosion occurred shortly after 7 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10, at HyPerComp Engineering, Inc., located at 156 S. 800 W. in Brigham City.
Authorities have not released the name of the deceased victim but confirmed he was in his 30s and was an employee of HyPerComp Engineering, Inc. He was the only person inside the building when the explosion happened.
HyPerComp Engineering, Inc. manufactures pressurized filament-wound vessels such as oxygen tanks. According to the company’s website the business was founded in 1996 and “specializes in the design, analysis, development, testing, manufacturing and certification of filament wound high-pressure composite vessels for diverse applications.”
Authorities have not confirmed if one of those high-pressured storage tanks caused the explosion.
The investigation is still underway.
