A body discovered by a couple passing through the Salt Flats area west of Promontory in rural Box Elder County is under investigation by the Box Elder Sheriff’s Department as a suspicious death.
On Friday, May 1, 2020 the body of Joshua George Haven, 36, of Weber County, was discovered where authorities stated that “the individual, obviously deceased and had been at this location for at least several days,” the BESD stated in a May 2, press release from Chief Deputy Dale Ward.
An investigation at the scene was completed and evidence was gathered. The Utah State Medical Examiner in Salt Lake City performed an autopsy on May 2. That report has yet to be released.
“This is an ongoing investigation and leads are being followed,” the department stated.
“The death is obviously being treated as suspicious and no conclusions have been reached at this time as to the cause or manner of death,” it added.
