COMMUNITY – “Walk among the pumpkins at The Holmgren Nature Trail”

TREMONTON – By Cari Doutre – September 18, 2020

The theme for the first annual GFWC Women’s Civic League Pumpkin Walk couldn’t be more perfect for 2020 - “It’s Scary – But We are in This Together.”

It’s as simple as that.

“Our community, and the rest of the world, have been going through challenging times,” the GFWC Women’s Civic League stated referring to the current COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

“This would be a fun way to bring us together allowing for social distancing and following government CDC guidelines,” it added.

The GFWC Women’s Civic League, a local organization dedicated to serving the community, is sponsoring a pumpkin walk on October 9-10, at the Holmgren Nature Trail located at 300 N. 775 E. along the Malad River in Tremonton.

* Friday, October 9, hours: 4 to 9 p.m.

* Saturday, October 10, hours: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The women’s civic league has worked hard to help bring The Holmgren Nature Trail to fruition and now they want to promote the trail, a fun Halloween event and continue their fundraising efforts to build a better community.

Story continues below...

An open invitation to other community service clubs, non-profit organizations, and anyone else who would like to participate in the pumpkin walk has been extended by the women’s civic league. They are looking for groups to set up Halloween or fall related scenes (similar to Logan City’s annual pumpkin walk) along the trail for the public to come and enjoy.

Each group volunteering this service must provide their own supplies and a way to light their scene via solar lights or a generator. Groups will also be required to clean up their scene after the final night (Saturday) of the pumpkin walk. Application forms for volunteer groups can be found below and are due Sept. 30.

There’s no entrance fee for the community to come enjoy this event but donations will be gladly accepted by the GFWC Women’s Civic League. A portion of those donations will be used to enhance the park located at The Holmgren Nature Trail.

Still want to be involved in the pumpkin walk but can’t design a scene? The women’s civic league is also looking for plenty of carved pumpkins to light up the trail during the event. Please note - carved pumpkins must be lit without the use of flames.

The GFWC Women’s Civic League also added that they will be following all state and Box Elder County COVID-19 guidelines. If any changes are made to those guidelines that would prevent the pumpkin walk from moving forward, they will cancel it.
