The Carriage Association of America will be rolling into the Bear River Valley April 28-30, for three days of visits, talks, learning and social events as they host a Learning Weekend and Carriage Showcase for the public at the Box Elder County Fairgrounds.
Friday will kick off at Bothwell’s own Wagonland Adventure, which houses and displays one of the largest horse drawn transportation exhibits in North America. Over 350 commercial wagons, coaches, carriages, buggies, and sleighs will be available for viewing. Other events during the day include blacksmith and Mormon hobbles demonstrations, discussions on the Hensley Cutoff and evening barbecue.
Saturday’s activities include a presentation on Utah Carriage Houses and the Bidwell Bartleson Wagon Train, the story of the Oregon Trail and a tribute to Roy Rogers and Dale Evans by their daughter. The evening’s activities will take participants to the Old Barn Theatre for a special production and then dinner back at the fairgrounds
Saturday, the last day of the CAA event, will feature Cowboy Church, a presentation on the Hole in the Rock Expedition, talk about Carriage Lamps and a discussion on the Building of the Transconteniental Railroad. (See below for full schedule).
