BRAXTON CHRISTENSEN
This week’s featured Headliner Athlete of the Week at BRVNEWS.com goes to Braxton Christensen for taking first place in the Division B wrestling tournament in the 220-pound weight division on Saturday, Feb. 6.
Braxton pinned his opponent in the championship match during last weekend’s tournament held at Uintah High School in Vernal. This brings him to an overall 24-6 record so far with several big wins throughout the season.
Earlier in the season Braxton went undefeated at the Syracuse Scuffle and beat his opponent from Mountain Crest High School – the defending 4A state champions, in a dual meet on Jan. 14. Next up for Braxton is the 4A state championship tournament to be held Saturday, Feb. 20, at Snow College in Richfield.
Braxton is a senior at Bear River High School and is the son of Paul and Leslie Christensen of Tremonton.
CAMI GIBBS
Cami Gibbs is this week’s featured Headliner Athlete of the Week at BRVNEWS.com for her contribution to the Bear River High School girls’ basketball team this year as a leader and the positivity and talent she brings this year.
“Cami has brought a new level of excitement, engagement and competition the past few weeks. Her effort and positive attitude in practices and games has recently helped the Bears be competitive and continues to improve,” said Tyrell Neal, head coach of the Bear River High School girls’ basketball team.
Cami is a senior at Bear River High School and is the daughter of Casey and Amy Gibbs of Beaver Dam.
