KOURTLAN RASMUSSEN

Bear River High School senior Kourtlan Rasmussen is BRVNEWS.com’s featured Headliner Athlete of the Week this week for his leadership, hard work and ability to overcome hardships as he battles an injury during his last year on the Bear River High boys’ cross-country team.

“We are really pleased with every boy, especially Kourtlan who is still working hard to get in shape and is battling an injury. He set the pace early for the team and they followed him and it really paid off,” said Dan Line, Bear River High’s boys’ cross-country coach.

Kourtlan is the son of Preston and Melissa Rasmussen of Garland.

CARISA EPLING

Carisa Epling, a senior at Bear River High School and a four year member of the girls’ tennis team, is this week’s featured Headliner Athlete of the Week at BRVNEWS.com.

Carisa, one of 2020’s team captains for the Bears and a varsity starter at first doubles. Along with her younger sister Shannon, the duo has maintained a 4-4 overall record in Region 11 play. On Sept. 15, the sisters beat Region 11’s second ranked first doubles team from Ridgeline High School (7-6, 7-3, 4-6, 6-0).

This week the Epling sisters will face Region 11’s top ranked first doubles team from Green Canyon High on Tuesday, September 22, at Bear River High.

Carisa is the daughter of Robert and ChrisDean Epling of Tremonton.
