"Headliner Athletes of the Week" - May 4-10, 2020

BEAR RIVER HIGH - May 4, 2020

Kalli Ostermiller is a third year member of the Bear River girls’ water polo team and driving force on the team offensively and as a leader.

“Kalli is amazing in the water. It would take other teams two or three people to prevent her from scoring. This season she was averaging seven points a game. Her highest game scoring game was 10 goals,” said Danny Esplin, Bear River High water polo coach.

“Kalli is the type of player that doesn't come around very often. She is a player that can change the entire team. She can take control of a game and change how a team plays against us. She truly has the ability to play at the college level. It has been a great opportunity to coach Kalli and she will be missed on the team,” Esplin added.

Kalli is a senior at Bear River High School and is the daughter of Scott and Kendi Ostermiller.

This year for the Bear River High boys’ tennis team, Cortland Watson held the position of varsity second singles in the Bears’ short spring season but has been a pivotal part of the program for years.

“Cortland came prepared for a super senior season. He has developed into a solid all-around athlete on the tennis court. He put in the time with tennis training, as well as paying the price off season running cross country. He is a skilled tennis player that brings leadership and dedication to his team every practice,” said Bear River High boys’ tennis team head coach Ken Oxborrow.

“His character is instrumental in bringing qualities of excellence to our program. Cortland was our lead team captain and will go on to uplift and inspire people who know him,” Oxborrow added.

Cortland will depart for an LDS mission in California, Arcadia this summer.

Cortland is a senior at Bear River High and is the son of Bryan and Michelle Bingham of Riverside.
