An evading incidence that began in Davis County ended several hours later in Brigham City with the arrest of a 35-year-old male out of Idaho.

Lt. Tony Ferderber of the Brigham City Police Department said the ordeal began Sunday morning in Davis County as Utah Highway Patrol troopers spotted Edward Heuser in a vehicle reported stolen out of Idaho.

Heuser led troopers out of Davis County and through Weber County into Box Elder County before exiting at 1100 South in Brigham City about 8:30 a.m. The chase wound through the area before Heuser crashed his vehicle into a power pole about 500 North and 500 West.

The man then left the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers found several items of clothing he had dropped in an effort to evade police. A containment area was established, and a K-9 unit was brought in to search. A drone and a UHP helicopter were utilized.

The suspect was located about 10:40 a.m., hiding in a shed in a back yard just about a block from where he had crashed. The homeowner called police when he and his family returned from church and spotted the man going into the shed on his security camera. He was taken into custody without incident.

Heuser complained of back pain and was examined by medical personnel at the scene. He was then taken to Brigham City Community Hospital and then turned over to Davis County law enforcement.

Brigham City police, Perry police and UHP were all involved in the search and arrest of the suspect.
