BOX ELDER COUNTY – By Cari Doutre – April 30, 2020
In case you missed it, Hill Air Force Base held a state-wide flyover on April 30, to honor those who have been working on the frontlines during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic and those individuals that stayed at home to help “flatten the curve” of the virus.
The Air Force F-35A Lightning II Demonstration and 388th Fighter Wing performed a formation flyover led by F-35A Demo Team Capt. Kristin “BEO” Wolfe, and three combat-ready F-35 pilots from the 388th Fighter Wing.
The flyover started at Hill Air Force Base in Layton, proceeded south to the state border near St. George before looping up to Park City and Logan. From there they flew over Tremonton and Box Elder County back south to Ogden and the base. Story continues below.

“This flyover is our way of saluting those that are keeping our home-front safe during these unique times,” stated Capt. Wolfe in a press release on April 27.
“To provide just a small showcase of our appreciation to everyone that is doing their part to combat the virus, and to say ‘thank-you for your sacrifice and service’ to let everyone who has been affected by this pandemic know that we stand by you,” Wolfe added.
In northern Box Elder County, residents practiced social distancing methods and watched from home or from other secluded spots. Families displayed their pride in America by waving an American flag during the flyover. Even the staff at Bear River Valley Hospital in Tremonton took a quick break to enjoy the patriotic event. Not only is the flyover a salute to Utah, it also provided essential training to the pilots and “demonstrates the readiness of the Air Force,” it stated in the press release.
