A 22-year-old Brigham City man was arrested for DUI following an accident that resulted in a fire on Highway 38 Monday night, September 20, 2021.

Sgt. Brian Nelson with Utah Highway Patrol said the man was driving a 2018 Subaru northbound at about 4400 North at a high rate of speed when it went off the right side of the road. The man overcorrected, hit a fire hy and then rolled the vehicle.

The driver and a passenger, also 22, from Orem, were both able to escape the car before it began to burn and started a grass fire. Honeyville and Tremonton Fire departments responded to that blaze.

The passenger was taken by ambulance to the Brigham City Hospital and the driver was transported by law enforcement for medical evaluation before being booked into jail.

An updated report from UHP on Sunday’s crash on I-15 at MM382 found alcohol to be the contributing factor. The passenger in that vehicle, who was ejected, was treated and released. The driver was transported to the hospital and is recovering from nonlife-threatening injuries.
