CORINNE - By Ellen Cook, Headliner Media Specialist, July 5, 2022

A fire in a hay barn in Corinne Tuesday afternoon was brought under control by firefighters, but not before the homeowner lost the barn, about 30 small hay bales and some nearby corrals.

The fire was called in just after 5 p.m., on July 5, and the Corinne Fire Department, as well as Box Elder County Fire Warden Bradley Johnson, responded to 505 N. 7200 W. The small 12' x 12' barn was fully engulfed upon their arrival. Crews were able to keep the fire contained, although a nearby metal building received minor damage from the heat.

Corinne Fire Chief Clint Norman said the property owner was out of town at the time.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated, Johnson added, and estimated the loss at about $45,000.
