NEWS - "Corinne Fire Battles Two More Grass Fires"

CORINNE - Ellen Cook, Headliner Media Specialist, July 8, 2022

Corinne firefighters were kept busy on Friday, July 8, as they responded to two different grass fires within an hour of each other.

Just before 1 p.m., a fire was reported in a field at 6610 W. SR 83. Corinne crews were joined by Box Elder County Fire as they worked to contain the blaze to one acre.

While hoses were being manned at that address, a second call came in at 1:45 p.m., concerning a grass fire in the backyard of a residence at 1625 N 5600 W. Additional firefighters responded to that blaze and were joined by personnel from Brigham City, as well as Box Elder County.

That fire burned several pieces of older farm equipment before getting into a pile of old wood and threatening the home nearby. Crews were able to keep it from spreading but spent nearly five hours on scene monitoring hot spots in the woodpile. Damages on that fire was estimated at about $20,000.

Both fires are under investigation as to cause.
