A Corinne man serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was killed in a car crash, Thursday afternoon, July 22, in New Mexico.

Elder Michael Austin Davis, 20, son of Bryan and Kim Davis of West Corinne, was involved in a head-on collision while serving in the New Mexico Farmington Mission.

Davis was a 2019 graduate of Box Elder High School and entered the mission field in August of that same year.

A second missionary, Elder Tyson Gene Haycock, also 20, of Miles City, Montana, also died of injuries sustained in the crash. A third missionary in the vehicle, Elder Britton Jeremie Berrett, 19, of Roberts, Idaho, is in serious but stable condition in an Albuquerque hospital.

In a statement from Sam Penrod, Church spokesman, he said, “Our deepest sympathies go to the families of these faithful missionaries and we express our love and condolences to all who love them.”
