Two people escaped serious injury after an accident May 27, on I-15 at 900 N. near Brigham City.

Sgt Arik Beesley with Utah Highway Patrol said the male driver of a passenger car was entering the freeway going south at about 10 p.m. As he did, he struck the front steer tires of a semi, causing the truck driver to lose control. The semi, loaded with the household goods of a family moving to Arizona, hit the concrete barrier and then tipped onto the driver's side and began to burn.

The semi driver, who was from Indiana, was able to exit the truck with no injuries. The driver of the passenger car, a Box Elder County resident, was transported to Brigham City Community Hospital by ambulance, where he was treated and released.

The freeway was closed for just under an hour as crews from Brigham City and Corinne worked to put out the fire, then was narrowed to one lane for an additional five hours as the semi debris was cleared.
