FIELDING - April 26, 2023

A chain of burglaries at city office buildings throughout Box Elder and Cache counties have law enforcement asking the public for tips or information that can help lead them to those involved.

The latest break-in occurred at the Fielding City office, during the early morning hours of Wednesday, April 19.

When deputies and detectives from the Box Elder County Sheriff's Office responded, they found that the suspect had used a metal bar to pry open a locked exterior door. Once inside, other locked interior doors were also pried open. The suspect stole a lock box containing a small amount of cash and carried it away from the building on foot.

The empty lock box was recovered later in the day from the area of Highway 13 and East Factory Rd.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the case and process additional evidence.

As in previous burglaries over the last 12 months, the suspect or suspects have specifically been looking for, or have stolen, lock boxes and cash money. It is highly probable that these cases are related, and local officers are working with surrounding law enforcement agencies.

If you have any information or tips regarding these burglaries, please send a direct message through the Box Elder County Sheriff's Office Facebook page or call Detective Bowen at 435-734-3812.
