NEWS – “Garland City councilmember resigns; council looking for replacement"

Garland City announced on January 19, that James Munns, a former member of their city council has resigned. Munns stepped away from his seat on the Garland City Council on Jan. 6, 2021 during a city council meeting. The city did not state details into why Munns left the council.

With a vacancy now open on the council, Garland City has posted a public hearing notice looking for applicants interested in filling this vacancy. There are several requirements for those interested in the position which includes being a resident of Garland City and a registered voter of that municipality. Find that public notice below.

Interested individuals must file their application in person at the Garland City office during regular business hours. The deadline to apply for the position is January 29, 2021. Find that public hearing notice posted at BRVNEWS.com.

On February 3, members of the Garland City Council will make considerations during their work session at 7 p.m. then vote for a new councilmember during their regular council meeting at 8 p.m.

Whoever is appointed to the council seat will finish Munns’ term which ends on December 31, 2021.
