GARLAND - March 18, 2020
A letter from the Garland City Fire Department has been released in regards to canceling the 2020 Garland Fire Department Salmon BBQ:
To our supporters and community,
As a fire department it should go without say that we are deeply committed to the health and well-being of our community. The Annual Garland Fire Department Salmon BBQ has been a popular event that has served a great cause for over four decades now. The fundraiser brings not only the local community, but supporters from great distances to our fire house in large numbers.
As we all press on through these unpredictable times with the spread of the COVID-19 virus, we want you to know that the well being and safety of our firefighters and EMTs as well as those who support the Salmon BBQ are at the top of our mind.
Like everyone, the department has been actively monitoring this evolving situation. After taking guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Utah Department of Health, and other public officials, the department has made the difficult decision to cancel the Salmon BBQ for 2020.
We feel it’s our responsibility to the community and our department members, to ensure we do not contribute to spread of the COVID-19 virus.
We look forward to seeing everyone next year. If you have any questions about the COVID-19 virus you can find answers here:
Thank you,
Garland Fire Department
