A patch of ice caused by drifting snow near MM 14 on I-84 Saturday morning, January 22, resulted in two separate rollovers just minutes apart.

Sgt. Arik Beesley with Utah Highway Patrol Patrol said just before 9 a.m., a white truck traveling westbound hit that ice patch. The male driver, out of Salt Lake City, lost control and rolled off into the median, hitting the cable barrier, which prevented it from rolling into oncoming traffic. The truck ended up on its side.

Just 15 minutes later, an SUV pulling a trailer also when off the pavement to the right as the driver lost control on the same icy roadway. The SUV, with nine occupants out of the Layton area, also flipped onto its side.

Snowville and Tremonton both sent ambulances to the scene and nine patients, with various minor injuries, were transported to Bear River Valley Hospital for evaluation.
