Tyler Bingham a local man from Howell and professional bull-rider with the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association sustained serious injuries at the National Rodeo Finals on Dec. 9, 2020 in Arlington, Texas.

Bingham was competing in the seventh round of the competition when he was knocked unconscious shortly after leaving the chute. While on the ground the bull stomped on his chest leading to further injuries.

In a statement from Jerica Bingham, Tyler’s wife, his injuries include broken ribs, a broken sternum, a broken left clavicle, a hematoma under his sternum and both his lungs and his heart are bruised.

Tyler is currently in the ICU in a Texas hospital and is “as comfortable as he can be,” according to Jerica.

“They are keeping him for a day or two to monitor his heart and make sure it is healing properly. His head and stomach CT came back normal. Tyler is already cracking jokes and coming back to himself,” Jerica added.

Messages of love and support are coming in from many others, including Tyler’s rodeo traveling partner Sage Kimzey.

“Tonight my traveling partner, Tyler Bingham, was injured at the NFR. At the end of the day it’s a tough sport but you never want to see your best friend lying in the dirt. I ask that all of you pray for Tyler and Jerica. They are family and they need our support and love right now,” stated Kimzey on social media.

“We are overwhelmed with love and prayers from everyone. We are working on getting back to each of you but thank you. It really does mean a lot to us,” Jerica said. “Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the love and concern.”

“You can’t beat our rodeo family and we are so lucky to be a part of such a great community,” she added.
