Firefighters from Central Box Elder Fire District were joined by crews from Box Elder County, Corinne and Tremonton to battle a late-night straw stack fire at the Bingham Dairy in Deweyville.

The fire call came in just before 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 12. Approximately 26 firefighters manned hoses to keep the blaze contained as the owner used tractors and loaders to break up the burning straw. The united effort kept the flames from spreading to nearby structures.

The fire was contained about 2:30 a.m., and cleanup was completed about 4:30 a.m. One firefighter received minor injuries.

The fire started when sparks from a controlled burn landed in the straw pile.
