Say hello to your new Miss Bear River Valley!
Paige Petersen, a 2021 graduate of Bear River High School, took home the crown and the title on Thursday, July 8, at the school’s auditorium. The daughter of Stuart and Misty Petersen, she impressed the panel of judges during the talent competition that night singing “Once Upon a December.” She also won over judges during the evening wear competition where she discussed her social impact initiative on disability awareness.

Victoria Cottrell, an incoming senior at Bear River High, was named First Attendant. She is the daughter of Dale and Jenny Cottrell of Garland. Sami Pehrson, daughter of Grady and Melissa Wood and Brandon and Kaycee Pehrson, earned the Talent Award.
The night’s excitement also included a celebration of past Miss Bear River Valley winners – some even crowned Miss Wheat and Beet before the name of the pageant changed in 1982.

This year marked the 75th year of the pageant. Queens from years past were invited to attend the competition this year and were each recognized on stage and included the evening’s Mistress of Ceremonies, Amy Cervantez Carter. She was crowned Miss Bear River Valley in 2001. This year her and her husband Barry Carter emceed the event as Master and Mistress of Ceremonies.
Before the night ended, Lindsay Hales, Miss Bear River Valley 2019, did her farewell walk. Hales held the title for two years after the 2020 competition was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Also new this year was the option for viewers to purchase livestreaming tickets of the competition to watch from the comforts of home courtesy of Bear River Live.
