TREMONTON - February 9, 2023

It was just after 3:30 in the morning on January 18, when Officer Jaden Hassard with Tremonton Garland Police Department was making routine rounds in the city. As he was passing Buttars Tractor, his eye caught something out of the ordinary. Smoke was slowly curling out of the shop at the local business.

Hassard took quick action to secure the scene and immediately put in a call to alert Tremonton's Fire Department of the fire.

His response and follow through, along with the efforts of firefighters, prevented the fire from spreading and saved Buttars Tractor's shop and its contents.

On Thursday, February 9, Hassard responded to another call at the business. This time, unbeknownst to him, he was there to accept a heartfelt thanks from the staff at Buttars, as well as recognition from Tremonton's mayor, Lyle Holmgren, councilman Wes Estep and his fellow law enforcement officers.

Of the event, Officer Hassard said, "I want to say thank you to everyone at Buttars Tractor.  It was a very pleasant surprise stopping in for what I thought was an everyday call for service, and in turn having them give me a thank you.  This is a great community, and it is an honor to live and work in an area with so many wonderful and supportive people and businesses.”

Chief Dustin Cordova said he is proud of Hassard and his actions on that day. “While most of us were sleeping, he was actively working to keep our city safe. If it wasn’t for this officer our community would have sustained a tremendous loss. Buttars Tractor has been in our community for over 30 years! I hope this helps illustrate the quality of service our police and firefighters provide our great cities.”
