CORINNE - September 3, 2021
A rollover at 2400 North in Corinne on Thursday night, September 2, claimed the life of a 40-year-old Roy man.
Antonio Roque Trujillo was the driver of a 2004 Ford Econoline van that deputies believe was involved in an earlier road rage incident on SR13 near the Bear River Co-op.
Deputies had also see a similar white van on SR13 east of Corinne traveling without lights prior to receiving the road rage call and were headed to that incident when they were notified of the traffic accident west of Corinne.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered what they believe was the same white van. It had rolled several times, making contact with a fence and coming to rest in a residential yard against a tree.
The driver was the sole occupant and had been ejected. A nurse was on scene and deputies administered first aid, including CPR, but Trujillo was pronounced dead at the scene.
Further investigation revealed the van was traveling east on 2400 North. At about 4300 West, at a slight bend in the road there is a T-intersection with a three-way stop. The van went through the bend at a high rate of speed, did not stop at the intersection and then appeared to overcorrect.
This caused the van to roll several times off the north shoulder.
Alcohol use and excessive speed are believed to be primary contributing factors in the accident.
