Following nearly a two-hour search on Sunday morning, October 31, Utah Highway Patrol troopers were finally able to locate the driver involved in a crash near mile marker 381.
According to information from UHP, the driver was an Idaho male in his 30s and was driving a Volvo SUV south on I-15 when he went off the left side of the road into the median and then off the overpass, crashing into the canal below.
Troopers were called about 9 a.m., with reports of a vehicle partially submerged in the canal at 1000 North. There was no occupant when law enforcement arrived but, following an extensive search of the area, the man was located on 2000 West. He had suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital.
Alcohol is being investigated as a factor in the crash.
