NEWS - "Teen driver safe in Fielding accident"

A 17-year old suffered minor injuries in a Saturday afternoon car accident on August 1, in Fielding.

According to the Box Elder Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a motorist passing the scene of the accident discovered the teen driver who had just been involved in a traffic accident while traveling eastbound toward Fielding near 4653 W. and 16800 N. The vehicle, a 2006 Hyundai Sonata, left the road at the Malad River Bridge resting on the bank of river upside down.

“The driver was able to extradite herself from the vehicle. She suffered facial injuries and several bumps and bruises but refused any medical treatment at the scene,” stated the Box Elder Sheriff’s Office in a press release.

Authorities are still investigating the case but added “drowsy driving is being looked at as a cause for the accident,” in the press release.

In addition to the Box Elder Sheriff’s Office, the Tremonton Garland Police Department, Garland Fire Department, Fielding EMS and the Bear River Health Department responded to the accident.
