FIELDING - February 3, 2023

Fielding and Box Elder County Fire units were dispatched to a structure fire just before 11 a.m., on Friday, February 3.

The fire was located at 100 S. 100 E. in Fielding. Units arrived to find a trailer home with smoke showing. Garland Fire was then requested to provide mutual aid in fighting the fire. Firefighters remained on scene throughout the afternoon, leaving the scene about 3:30 p.m.

The official cause is still under investigation but preliminary assessment determined that some sort of ignition source was used underneath the trailer to either keep the pipes from freezing or to thaw them out. That source caused the underside of the trailer to ignite. The fire then traveled up to a closet and bedroom inside.

The trailer was a total loss, with damage estimated to be $10,000 to 15,000.

With the cold temperatures this week, the public is urged to remember to keep all heating sources monitored and to never leave them unattended.
