Two men had to be extricated from their vehicles and both suffered serious injuries in a crash on SR-30 near milepost 94 on Friday, October 1. According to a report from Utah Highway Patrol, the driver of a pickup truck, a Perry man in his 20s, was headed eastbound following a large crane about 1:15 p.m., just past the River Bottoms, when he drifted slightly into oncoming traffic.

He was struck by a passenger car driven by a Cache Valley man in his early 30s. The impact caused severe damage to both vehicles. Emergency crews from Fielding and Garland responded to the scene and had to extricate both drivers. The driver of the passenger car was airlifted to MacKay Dee Hospital in Ogden with facial injuries, a punctured lung and several broken bones. The truck driver was transported to Bear River Valley Hospital with serious leg injuries.
