The Utah Department of Health and the Bear River Health Department have issued their final COVID-19 (coronavirus) case count for 2020 putting Box Elder County above Cache County for total deaths related to the virus as the first round of COVID-19 vaccinations are currently underway in Utah.
The Bear River Health Department reported their first positive case of COVID-19 on March 17, 2020. Box Elder County is currently in the “High Transmission” level according to Utah’s new guidelines issued in October.

The Bear River Health Department (Box Elder, Cache and Rich counties) and The Utah Department of Health both update statistics daily.
Here’s where Box Elder County and Utah case counts and statistics are as of Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020:
Box Elder County:
- 3,571 confirmed cases of COVID-19
- 147 currently hospitalized
- 3043 recovered
- 26 deaths
Cache County:
- 11,167 confirmed cases of COVID-19
- 363 currently hospitalized
- 9,972 recovered
- 20 deaths
Rich County:
- 67 confirmed cases of COVID-19
- 5 currently hospitalized
- 59 recovered
- 0 deaths
Utah:
- 276,612 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Utah
- 1,269 deaths
