TREMONTON - April 28, 2023

A program that started in 1983 to give children the skills they need to avoid involvement in drugs, gangs and violence, is still going strong throughout the community. The D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) America program is in its 17th year at North Park Elementary School in Tremonton and is currently taught by Linda Bourne in conjunction with the Tremonton Garland Police Department to 5th grade students. The D.A.R.E. curriculum is structured around choices giving students the skills needed to talk about stress, communication styles, bullying, risk taking and other issues as they navigate the future.

North Park Elementary held their 2023 D.A.R.E. graduation ceremony on April 12. Students are required to complete a workbook, write an essay, conduct an interview with an adult and make the D.A.R.E. pledge before officially graduating from the program.
