Hitting the golf course for the first time in high school competition for 2020, the Bear River High School boys’ golf team met up with all Region 11 teams in their first tournament of the season on Monday, August 17.
Birch Creek Golf Course, the home course for Green Canyon High School in Smithfield, was the site of the tournament where Bear River took third overall as a team with a score of 329. Just one stroke behind the Bears were Ridgeline High School and Green Canyon High School. Both schools tied for first place with matching scores of 328.
Sky View High School took fourth place with a score of 338 while Logan High School finished in fifth place (343) and Mountain Crest High School in sixth place with a score of 351.
Individually, the Bears showed a strong performance on the course with seniors leading the way. Senior Dylan Christensen tied for third place shooting a 78. Not far behind was senior Jarett Giles in fifth place (80), followed by sophomore Ryker Bennett in 12th place (84) and sophomore Padin Hartfiel shooting an 87 for the Bear River varsity team.

Next up for the Bears is their only home tournament of the season at Skyway Golf Course in Tremonton on Monday, August 24, at 2 p.m.
