Bear River High's cross-country team has already competed in three pre-season races this year starting with a rare home meet where they hosted Region 11's Ridgeline High and Logan High on August 31, at the Garland City Park. Scores and times for that meet were unavailable by press time.
Following last week's home meet, the team took on the 2022 Cardinal Classic on September 3, held at the Kelly Park Nordic Ski Trails in Soda Springs, Idaho. The meet brought together 32 teams from across Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming and a big way to start the 2022 season.
The Bear River boys' team was impressive as they had an overall team score of 238, which was good enough to capture 8th place out of the 32 teams that competed. They were just once point shy of 7th place.
The top five finishers for the Bear River boys' team include:
Junior David Bourgeous 17:50.65
Senior Bryan Hamson 18:11.56
Junior Ren Hunter 18:17.26
Senior Ryan Pace 18:30.23
Junior Braxton Craven 18:45.14
The Bear River girls' team mirrored the boys' efforts and also came away with an impressive score of 240 which was also good for 8th place and was also just one point shy of 7th place.

Next up for the Bear River High cross-country team is the 2022 Utah pre-state meet on September 14, in Salt Lake City.
