SPORTS – “Bears stay busy on the basketball court over winter break”

It wasn’t much of a break for the Bear River High School boys’ basketball team as they took part in the Eagle Holiday Shootout Dec. 29-31, 2020 at Juan Diego High School.

The Bears started with a tough 70-40 loss to Mountain View High School in Orem on Dec. 29.

Bear River High freshman Kyver Jensen scored an impressive 10 points for the Bears against the Bruins with junior Garrison Marble putting six on the board for the Bears.

Next up for the Bears in the tournament was a win over Summit Academy from Bluffdale, 52-49, at Bear River High.

Finishing up the tournament the Bears took a 63-49 loss to Judge Memorial High School on Dec. 31. Bear River was evenly matched to the Bulldogs throughout the game until the fourth quarter where they got outscored 11-4.

Senior Chase Adams put 12 points on the scoreboard for the Bears against Judge Memorial with junior Caleb Barfuss adding 10 of this his own and Garrison Marble put up 8.

This week the Bear River boys’ basketball team is scheduled to host Morgan High School on Saturday, Jan. 9, with game time set for 3 p.m. Bear River Live will be livestreaming the game. Check that out at
