BEAR RIVER HIGH - By Cari Doutre, Headliner Publisher, February 24, 2023
A loss in the first round of the 4A state playoffs put an end to the season for the Bear River High boys' basketball team after the Bears fell to Logan High, 63-42, on February 21.
The Bears hosted the Grizzlies where they struggled to keep up early on in the game. Entering halftime down 14 points, Bear River put up 18 points on the scoreboard in the 3rd quarter and 11 points in the 4th quarter, but it was too little too late for the Bears ending their 2022-23 season.
The week before, Bear River played their last two Region 11 games of the season starting with an away game to Logan High School on February 15, where the Grizzlies defeated the Bears, 56-46. On February 17, the Bears hosted Green Canyon High for a close, 54-50, loss to the Wolves.
The Bear River boys' basketball team said goodbye to their lone senior on the team this year, Denver Reese, but will return next season with a group of talented juniors who will bring plenty of varsity experience to the court including:
Bridger Barfuss
Heath Brown
Kyver Jensen
Gehrig Marble
Owen Olsen
Brayden Ritter
Jace Roberts
