After enjoying the fireworks on New Year's Eve, the girls' basketball team at Bear River High started the new year with back-to-back shows of their own, continuing their winning ways and continuing to impress on the court.
The Lady Bears came back from the break ready to attack as they hosted Salem Hills High on January 4. Bear River started the game on a roll and never looked back. They jumped out to a quick 25-9 lead after the first quarter. They then added 14 in the second quarter as their defense continued to dominate the Skyhawks only giving up 6 points. Bear River went into halftime with a comfortable 39-15 lead. The lead was too much for the Skyhawks to overcome and the Bears finished the game winning, 65-50.
Senior Gracie Riley put up a double double as she scored 18 points to go along with 12 rebounds. She also added 2 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks, an all-around dominant performance. Senior Jenna Lacroix added 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists. Senior Lexie Westmoreland added 12 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists.

Bear River followed up their big win over Salem Hills High with another absolutely dominating performance as they hosted Union High on January 6. Again, led by their outstanding defensive performance, the Lady Bears held a big lead after the first quarter, this time leading, 18-0. They followed up that quarter with another great quarter, going into halftime with a 32-9 lead. The second half was a bit more competitive, but the Bears still held a huge lead throughout. They beat the Cougars by a final score of 61-37.
Again, the Bears were led by their three-headed monster in Riley, Lacroix, and Westmoreland. Riley scored 13 points to go along with 11 rebounds and 6 steals. Lacroix led the Bears in scoring as well as other stats with a remarkable game, with 15 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals and 3 blocks. Westmoreland scored 12 points and added 2 rebounds, 4 assists and a team high 8 steals.

The Bears will look to ride the success of these last two games into region play as they kick off the region part of their schedule with two home games, first against Sky View High on January 13, and Ridgeline High on January 18.
