BEAR RIVER HIGH - By Tate Atkin, Headliner Sports Editor, September 29, 2022
The girls' soccer team at Bear River High is battling through turbulent times in Region 11 competition after starting the pre-season flying high.
The 2022 season started with a Bear River win over St. Joseph and the team went, 3-1, through the first four games. Since that time however, the Bears have been on the losing end of each game they have played. They have an overall record of 3-11 and are still looking for their first win in region, where they are currently 0-8.
Early in the season the Lady Bears were able to score goals and their defense was able to slow down the other team's offense. It has been the exact opposite for the team since region play has begun. Through eight region games, the Bears have only scored one goal, which came in a blowout loss to Logan. Defensively they have given up 33 goals in those eight varsity games.
Only scoring one goal in eight games is concerning. Giving up 32 goals in that same span is also concerning. Combining the two has resulted in a very difficult stretch for Bears, who now find themselves in last place in Region 11 with just three games left before the state playoffs begin on October 12.
The results of each game this season are posted below.
Bear River 4, St. Joseph 1 (September 4, 2022)
