BEAR RIVER HIGH – April 20, 2021
It’s been a busy season for all of Bear River High School’s spring sports and that has put BRVNEWS.com a little behind in updating sports fans. Here’s a quick update on Bear River High softball as of April 19, 2021 and what’s coming up next for the Lady Bears.
April 19: Bear River 3, Tooele High 2 – at Bear River High School
Sophomore Kate Dahle had the win on the mound for the Lady Bears striking out four and giving up four hits. Dahle also hit a double and had an RBI against the Buffaloes.

April 16: Bear River 6, Mountain Crest High 1 – at Mountain Crest High School
Carlee Miller, a senior at Bear River High, hit a homerun and a double for the Bears in a Region 11 matchup against the Mustangs. Miller went 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs. Junior McCall Maxfield had two doubles going 2-for-4 at the plate. Senior Olivia Taylor also went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double.
On the mound Dahle earned the win striking out eight and giving up just two hits.
April 13: Bear River 17, Green Canyon High 0 – at Bear River High School
Junior Jordyn Warren shut down the Wolves from Green Canyon High in a 17-0 blowout win for the Bears. Warren gave up just one hit on the mound while striking out seven for the Bears in four innings of play (mercy rule).
Dahle went 4-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs and a double. Cami Gibbs, a senior at Bear River High, went 2-for-3 with a triple and four RBIs. Kortnie Burton brought in three runs for the Bears with a double at the plate. Kynlei Nelson and Maxfield both hit triples.
April 9: Bear River 10, Box Elder High 0 – at Bear River High School
The cross-county rivalry between the Bear River and Box Elder sent the Bees home with a loss that really stung – 10-0.
The Bears outhit the Bees 11-4 with Taylor hitting a homerun in the bottom of the first inning for the Bears. Taylor finished the day 2-for-2 at the plate with two RBIs. Sisters Oaklie Maxfield (senior) and McCall Maxfield both went 2-for-3. Burton hit a double for the Bears to finish the day.
Dahle and Sorensen shared the win on the mound. Dahle struck out five and Sorensen struck out four as the sophomores led the Bears in five innings (mercy rule).

April 7: Bear River 7, Farmington High 2 – at Farmington High School
In a non-region matchup with 5A’s Farmington High, the Lady Bears brought home a 7-2 win with Dahle on the mound. Dahle struck out 11 and gave up two hits over seven innings.
McCall Maxfield and Miller hit triples that day.
Coming up…
This week the Lady Bears will travel to Logan High School on Tuesday, April 20, with varsity game time set for 3:30 p.m.
On Thursday, April 22, the Bears will take on 4A powerhouse school Spanish Fork High School on the road. The following day, April 23, Bear River will host Region 11’s Ridgeline High School and on Saturday, April 24, the team will take on a four-game varsity tournament hosted by Ridgeline High.
