Mounted Shooting in back at the Box Elder County fairgrounds on Saturday, September 18, and the public is invited to attend.

This free event, presented by Utah’s Mounted Thunder Cowboy Mounted Shooting Club, is being tagged as the US Mounted Shooting Tremonton Shootout and will feature men, women and youth sharpshooters, along with some high-quality horses, from across the west. The action gets underway at 9 a.m. and will run throughout the day in the big indoor arena. Find more information below.

The Bear River Shoot, held in Tremonton in July, was a big success and competitors are excited to be back in town for a repeat performance. Mounted shooting is a timed event where riders fire black powder load at balloons set up in a pattern while at a full gallop. Weapons of choice are shotgun, rifle or pistol.

According to one of the organizers, Steve Flint, of Honeyville, this is one of the last events before Worlds, October 12-16, in Amarillo, Texas. Flint and his grandson, Corbin Davis, also of Honeyville, have both qualified for that event and will both be in Tremonton with the hope of adding to their point totals.
