BEAR RIVER HIGH – By Cari Doutre – December 14, 2020
In the first two weeks of the 2020 Bear River High School girls’ basketball season, senior Olivia Taylor has a tremendous lead on the basketball court - and on the scoreboard.
In one game alone when the Lady Bears took on Morgan High School on Dec. 5, Taylor put 25 points on the scoreboard with five 3-pointers and three offensive rebounds.
“Olivia is a self-developed leader on our team. She is dedicated, on-time, engaged and creates results. In one of our most recent games, Olivia took charge of the game, helped her teammates, and made a huge difference. She set her mind to be successful,” said Tyrell Neal, head coach of the Bear River High girls’ basketball team.
“Not only does she play hard-nosed defense, but she is also a huge offensive threat to every team. As coaches, we appreciate her great ‘can-do’ attitude. It does not matter what is asked of her - she responds with a great attitude and makes it happen,” he added.

Joining Taylor on the court this year for the Lady Bears is senior Cami Gibbs. Gibbs had a strong performance against Syracuse High School on Dec. 4, putting seven points on the scoreboard and five offensive rebounds.
Sophomore Kate Dahle is also making an impact for the varsity team this year scoring nine points against Ben Lomond High School on Dec. 3. Dahle also had three offensive rebounds against Morgan High School on Dec. 5.
While the Lady Bears’ varsity team has an overall 1-5 record early in the season, Region 11 play has yet to begin. Bear River isn’t scheduled to begin region until Jan. 4, 2021, as they travel to Sky View High School to take on the Bobcats.
