SALT LAKE CITY - By Cari Doutre - July 22, 2021

Tyson Hirschi and Darien Johnson, two local cowboys and neighbors, participated in the 2021 Days of '47 Young Guns Youth Rodeo at the Days of '47 Arena on Tuesday, July 20, and both made a big impression in the rodeo arena.
Located at the Utah State Fairgrounds in Salt Lake City, Tuesday's event was packed with youth from across the state ready to compete in one of Utah's most popular rodeos of the year held every year during Utah's Pioneer Day celebrations.
Tyson, 17, a senior at Bear River High, was competing in the bull riding event where he took home the title with a first place overall finish with 78 points. Tyson is the son of Mark and Dixie Hirschi of Garland.
Darien, a 2021 graduate of Bear River High, is the son of Casey and Chanelle Johnson of Garland. He will attend College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls on a scholarship to ride in the bareback event for the college team. But before he gets there, Darien also took on the Days of '47 Young Guns Youth Rodeo in the bareback competition. Darien's ride was enough to top the leader boards and brought home his own first place finish.
