The 2021 Bear River High School volleyball team has had some close matches against tough Region 11 foe this season and hope to find a couple more wins before heading into the playoffs on October 27-28.

In the first half of region play, things started off a bit rocky as the Lady Bears lost three in a row. They found their stride and gained two wins in their matches against Logan High School and Mountain Crest High School.

Bear River defeated Logan 3-0 and gained their first region win on their home court on September 23. The first two sets were somewhat close with the Bears finishing on top 25-14 and 25-18. By the third set the Bears put down quick points for an easy win 25-9 to end the night.

The Lady Bears then headed to Mountain Crest High on September 28. Although they fought hard it took some time to find their rhythm losing the first two sets 14-25 and 21-25. After a close back and forth battle in the second set, Bear River seemed more confident. The Bears surprised the Mustangs in the third as they won 25-21. The fourth set was similar and once again the Bears came out on top 25-22.

With things tied up 2-2, the Bears and Mustangs both fought for every point. Being the fifth set one team had to reach 15 points first with a two-point victory and the Bears found themselves down 13-14. However, Bear River kept cool under the pressure and had some great saves. Seven more points would be scored between the two teams before someone emerged victorious.

A great serve by junior Kate Dahle gave the Bears back the lead and a strong hit by senior Brinley Noble against the blockers and out of bounds claimed the win for Bear River 18-16. To relive the action of that 3-2 win, watch it courtesy Bear River Live on the link below.

Bear River hoped to continue that momentum headed into the second half of region play, but fell to Ridgeline High 3-0 (September 30), Sky View High (October 5) 3-0 and Green Canyon High (October 7) 3-1 in the following weeks.

Although the Bears suffered a loss against the Wolves from Green Canyon High at home during their Dig Pink Night, it was a hard-fought battle. Rewatch the battle courtesy of Bear River Live on the link below.

The Bear River High volleyball team also competed in the Ogden Tiger Classic on October 8-9. The first day the Bears defeated Enterprise High 3-1 and lost to Ogden High 3-1. On Saturday Bear River lost to Uintah High and Juan Diego High, 3-1 in both matches, before finding a win against Judge Memorial High 3-1.

Next up, the Bear River High volleyball team will travel to Logan High on October 12, and then will finish off Region 11 play on Tuesday, October 19, with a home match against Mountain Crest High. Both of those games will be live streamed at LIVE | brlive (brlivestream.com)
