An 80-year-old Arizona woman died on route to the hospital after being struck by a large utility truck on SR 102 west of Tremonton on Friday, October 15.

Information from Sgt. Arik Beesley of the Utah Highway Patrol said the woman and a 70-year-old passenger were traveling westbound at about 8000 W. in a passenger car just after 8:30 in the morning. The woman had reportedly pulled to the side of the road and then made a U-turn back onto the roadway into the path of the truck. The car was struck on the driver’s side, pinning the woman inside. Extrication was required.

The woman and the male passenger were both transported to Bear River Valley Hospital in separate ambulances and Air Med was called. The driver, however, succumbed to her injuries before arriving.

The passenger, the woman’s brother from Taylorsville, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the utility truck was not injured.
