COMMUNITY - "City Seeks Artists for New Community Mural"

Updated: Nov 14, 2022

TREMONTON - November 2, 2022

Tremonton City has a beautiful collection of public art on historic Main Street and in other downtown areas. This award-winning collection earned the 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022 Best of State Award and the 2020 BOSS Award for the entire state of Utah.  Visitors to Tremonton are drawn to these murals that artistically display local history.

To add to this display, the Tremonton City Arts Council is seeking statements of qualifications from artists with experience in mural installation to design and execute a large-scale mural that celebrates Tremonton City as a culturally rich and diverse community.

In a letter issued recently, it was stated, "The content of the mural shall be to honor Chief Sagwitch and The Northwestern Shoshone Tribe that knew as their home the northern Great Salt Lake, Bear River, Cache and Bear Lake valleys in northern Utah. This year (2022) marks 200 years since the birth of Chief Sagwitch. With the world around him changed, Sagwitch sought peace and accommodation with the white men occupying the Shoshone's valleys, leading his people with hope, peace, and forgiveness."

The statements are due Friday, November 25, 2022. The entire statement of qualifications must be a single PDF (first name_last name_tremonton_mural.pdf) submitted electronically as an email attachment. Late statement of qualifications will not be accepted and incomplete statements of qualifications, including those not formatted correctly, as solely determined by Tremonton City, will not be reviewed. Email the submission to lnessen@tremontoncity.com
