MARCUS CALLISTER

This week’s featured Headliner Athlete of the Week at BRVNEWS.com goes to Marcus Callister, a member of the Bear River High School baseball team and a contributing factor in the Bears’ recent success on the field.

“Marcus was huge at the plate this past week and provided us with some timely and constant hitting that helped us win a huge series against Sky View High,” said Bear River High’s head baseball coach Don Hawes.

On April 19, against Sky View High, Marcus went 4-for-5 with three RBIs at the plate.

“Marcus has been a team leader both in the dugout and in the community the team this year,” he added.

Marcus is a senior at Bear River High and is the son of Carson and Courtney Callister of Tremonton.

MORGAN ROSE

Bear River High School’s Morgan Rose is this week’s featured Headliner Athlete of the Week at BRVNEWS.com for her hard work, leadership and success so far this season as a member of the varsity Bear River High girls’ golf team.

In the Lady Bears’ first three region tournaments this season, Morgan has shown remarkable strength and talent. She has had strong performances on the golf course recently placing 6th individually at the Logan Country Club in a Region 11 tournament.

“Morgan is a team captain and a four-year member of our team and has meant so much to our program. She is such a great leader and example to the entire team,” said Jim Thomas, head coach of the Bear River High girls’ golf team.

Morgan is a senior at Bear River High and is the daughter of Jason and Cami Rose.

HUNTER HARROW

This week’s featured Headliner Athlete of the Week at BRVNEWS.com goes to Hunter Harrow for his recent performances on the Bear River High baseball team.

“Hunter had a great week at the plate, played awesome defense in centerfield and pitched a scoreless inning of relief helping us win a huge series against Sky View High,” said Bear River High’s head baseball coach Don Hawes.

On April 16, Hunter went 2-for-2 at the plate against Sky View High School.

“Hunter is a grinder and always has his eyes up and looking to help others,” Hawes added.

Hunter is a junior at Bear River High and is the son of Dave and Carissa Harrow of Tremonton.

OLIVIA TAYLOR

Olivia Taylor is this week’s featured Headliner Athlete of the Week at BRVNEWS.com for her leadership and talent with the Bear River High School softball team this season.

Not only was Olivia a deciding factor in the Lady Bears’ big victory against Tooele High School on April 19, but she has also been a tour de force all season. She set the tone in the sixth inning against the Buffs by scoring the Bear’s first run of the game - which then led to two more runs in the same inning.

Bear River High’s head softball coach Calvin Bingham also said she had a major part to play in keeping the Lady Buffs from coming back in the seventh inning.

“She threw an absolute rocket to home from the outfield. One bounce and it was right in the catcher’s mitt and that kept the runner from even thinking about scoring,” Bingham said.

“Olivia has had a great year, made a lot of great catches and has been a distinguished leader among a group of captains that excel at leading. She’s had a tremendous year,” he added.

Olivia is a senior at Bear River High and is the daughter of Calvin and Carolyn Taylor of Deweyville.
