HEADLINER ATHLETES OF THE WEEK – Jarett Giles and Liz Phillips: May 27, 2021

BEAR RIVER HIGH – May 27, 2021

Jarett Giles and Liz Phillips are today’s featured Headliner Athletes of the Week at BRVNEWS.com - sponsored by Chanshare Farms. Thank you for supporting local journalism and high school sports in the Bear River Valley!

Why have just two Headliner Athletes of Week when you can have 10 instead?! After all the exciting athletic accomplishments recently at Bear River High, BRVNEWS.com couldn’t pick just two student athletes to feature this week, so instead, we’re posting it Monday-Friday, May 24-28!

JARETT GILES

Today’s featured Headliner Athlete of the Week goes to Jarett Giles for his contributions to the Bear River High School baseball team this season.

“He had an awesome state tournament both offensively and defensively and pitched a great game during the state tournament. Jarett is the type of guy that will compete anytime, anyplace. He was a big reason we made a run in the state tournament,” said Donald Hawes, Bear River High’s head baseball coach.

In the Bears final week of competition during the 2021 4A state tournament in Salt Lake City, May 17-19, Jarett went 2-for-4 against Mountain Crest High with two RBIs. During the final game of the season for Bear River, Jarett took to the mound striking out four and giving up only three runs to Deseret Hills High.

He finished his final year of high school baseball at the plate with 34 hits, 20 RBIs and four doubles.

Jarett is a senior at Bear River High and is the son of Ryan and Kristy Giles.
