Two drivers suffered injuries in an early morning collision on SR-13, Wednesday, July 27. The head-on crash closed the state road in both directions for about two hours.
A report from Utah Highway Patrol said the accident was reported just before 6:30 a.m., involving a 2013 Toyota Corolla and a 2021 Ford Mustang. It appeared the Corolla, driven by a 34-year-old Brigham City woman, drove into the westbound lanes and impacted the Mustang, driven by a 41-year-old man from Brigham City.
Both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles. The female was flown from the accident scene by LifeFlight helicopter to McKay Dee Hospital with very serious injuries. The male also suffered serious injuries and was transported to Brigham City Community Hospital.
The report said a cellphone was found inside the Toyota playing YouTube videos. Medication was also present that could cause impairment, and both distracted driving and impairment are being investigated, with possible charges on the female driver, the report stated.
SBI/MCIT/UTIP-Safety inspection have all been contacted and will be assisting in this investigation.
