DEWEYVILLE - March 18, 2023

Two Tremonton brothers were injured in a crash on Highway 38 near the Deweyville/Honeyville line on Saturday night, March 18.

A report from Utah Highway Patrol said the driver, a 34-year-old, was traveling southbound in a Toyota Scion near 8790 N., and failed to negotiate a slight bend in the road. The car left the side of the roadway and the driver overcorrected, sending the car across the northbound lanes and off the east side of the road.

As the vehicle slid, it struck a mailbox and a fire hydrant before rolling and then coming to rest, upright, on a fence. The driver was ejected during the rollover and suffered serious head injuries.

A passenger, the driver's 18-year-old brother, was wearing a seatbelt and was not ejected, but also suffered head and neck injuries.

Both occupants were transported by Tremonton ambulance to Bear River Valley Hospital. The driver was later transported by medical helicopter.

According to the UHP report, the driver is believed to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

Also assisting at the scene were First Reponders from Central Box Elder Fire District, Box Elder County Sheriff's deputies and Tremonton Fire Department.
